BE A CHORISTER FOR A DAY – THURSDAY 5 OCTOBER, 2023 AT 2PM.

Do you have a son or daughter who loves to sing? Have you ever considered entering them for a Choristership, but had no idea what was involved?

Every year during the Michaelmas Term, we give children between the age of 6 and 10 the chance to ‘Be a Chorister for the Day’.

WHAT HAPPENS?

Our visitors arrive at Dean Close Preparatory School in the afternoon. Parents will have a chance to meet key members of staff and receive a short presentation about what it means to be a Chorister in Schola Cantorum and a pupil at Dean Close Preparatory School. Meanwhile the children will enjoy some professional singing coaching, both from the Director of the Schola Cantorum and other key music staff.

The children will then have tea and have the opportunity to play games with some of our choristers, before travelling by coach to Tewkesbury Abbey, where they will be joined by the lay clerks (the adult members of the choir) for a rehearsal.

Evensong starts at 5.30pm and we encourage parents to come and watch their children and meet other parents and staff members.

After spending the ‘day’ with us, Mr Bell will contact parents to share further information about becoming a Chorister, including how to audition for a place.

If you would like to book a place for your child, please contact us by email (scholacantorum@deanclose.org.uk) or call the Dean Close Admissions department on 01242 258001.
